In high demand of transport capacity, Indonesia took over nine of the twelve ex-RAAF surplus C-130H's (of which the first four were donated). They carry TNI-AU serials A-1330 through A-1338, and while most TNI-AU Herk's have a camouflage livery, A-1330 through A-1335 actually got this overall grey paint scheme during refurbishment in Australia (prior delivery to Indonesia). All have now been repainted to the camo style so I was lucky to catch this one while it was still grey. It is assigned to the 3rd (new) C-130 Skadron Udara 33 at Makassar, along with A-1315, A-1323, A-1330 and A-1338.

Indonesia's IPTN-Nurtanio aircraft facility in Bandung is mainly known for co-producing fixed-wing aircraft with Spain's CASA, such as the C212 Aviocar, the CN235 and the C295. However, it also built under licence different MBB, Bell and Aérospatiale helicopters for the local civilian and military market. Some 26 Super Pumas, of which at least 12 went to the Indonesian AF, were built locally since the mid 1980's. The one pictured here is assigned to VIP Sqn 45 based at Halim, and has since been repainted in an attractive white/red paint scheme (representing the national colors of Indonesia).

Delivered to the USAAF as 42-23689 in 1943. To Netherlands East Indies as DT-959/VH-REM in 1946, PK-REM in 1947 and the Indonesia Air Force as T-459 in 1950. Later to PK-VDM. Preserved at Halim as T-459 from 1985.

The Indonesian Air Force operated 40 Swiss built Bravos elementary trainers between 1982 and 2015. They were based at the TNI-AU's main flight training facility in Yogjakarta. The abbreviation LM stands for "Latih Mukla" and means elementary trainer. The Bravos, as well as the advanced T-34C's trainers, were replaced by a single type, the Grob 120TP.

The TNI-AU started to operate Flankers in August of 2003 and has so far purchased sixteen aircraft of four different versions. That's far from the original ambitious plan to eventually operate 180 SU-27/30's among 10 squadrons. Currently, two SU-27SK (serialled TS-2701 & -2702), three SU-27SKM (TS-2703 through 2705), two SU-30MK (TS-3001 and TS-3002, pictured here) plus nine SU-30MK2 (TS-3003 through TS-3011) are based at Sultan Hasanuddin AB, South Sulawesi and operated by Skadron Udara 11.
