C-47 42-92651 was delivered to the RAF as KG440 in February 1944. Returned to the US Air Force in July 1946, the transport became CF-GHL the same month. Registered to Ontario Central Airlines in 1974, it carried through name changes and a merger until it was sold to Air North in 1993 before returning to the USA in 1998 as N54AA. Sadly, the aircraft crashed while operating a freight flight for Caribbean Air on July 20, 2000. After losing an engine after take-off at Nassau, Bahamas, it failed to maintain altitude and crashed in a pine forest trying to return to the airport.

Tragically lost after take-off from a remote northern airport one night in 1993. Complete destruction of the aircraft hampered determination of cause, but a total electrical failure is thought likely, followed by 'black hole' disorientation of the crew and loss of control.

Tragically lost after take-off from a remote northern airport one night in 1993. Complete destruction of the aircraft hampered determination of cause, but a total electrical failure is thought likely, followed by 'black hole' disorientation of the crew and loss of control.

Post war C-47D 45-1115 , converted to a VC-47D in 1950, was sold to Desert Air Parts in October 1972 registered N17777. Imported into Canada as C-GCZG in January 1975 by Ontario Central Airlines, the aircraft was a fixture in Winnipeg for almost twenty years. Withdrawn by Air Manitoba in May 1992, it was sold to Buffalo Airways in January 1994. Registered to Aviation Boreal in May 1995, it was damaged beyond repair landing on frozen Kenty Lake in Quebec when one ski hit a snowbank and collapsed the landing gear.
