To Delta Airlines in December 2008

Delivered new to Eastern 27th Feb 1968 and transferred to Midway July 1991, then stored KMHV 14th Nov 1991 and to Northwest July 1994 , merged into Delta Oct 2008. Ferried KMSP-KMZJ 7th Jan 2010 and scrapped

This 757 was delivered to Northwest in 1987, retired by Delta to Marana in 2015, and broken up there.

I liked this "bowling shoe" livery, but the red was prone to fading badly. This aircraft, N157US, looks much better in my 1990 photograph, also in this database.

Previously LN-RLJ of SAS from 1968 to 1989. Finally retired by Delta in 2010, after 42 years active!

To Northwest Airways in 1929. In 1935 to Alaska. Then it joined Monroe Airlines, Michigan. In June 1951 it was purchased by Johnson Flying Service, Missoula, MT with new c/r N8419 to be used by the United States Fire Services but for a short while it was used in a film "Red Skies of Montana". It was also leased back to Northwest Airlines for a commemorative flight in 1956. On 4 August 1959 the aircraft crashed at Grangeville, Idaho killing three people. The aircraft was substantially destroyed but rebuilt from the remains and other Tri-motor components. Registration cancelled 14 February 2018.

Built in 1929 for Northwest Airways Inc., the photo probably was taken at Wold-Chamberlin Field that later became Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport. (Unknown Photographer)
