After briefly being placed in storage after withdrawal at Litchfield Park, AZ in October 1958, it was placed on show at various locations, at some stage the aircraft's original photoreconnaissance nose being replaced with the gun-equipped nose of a standard Banshee fighter. In 2012 it was loaned to Pima by the National Museum of the Marine Corps.

Displayed in the colours of VMJ-1, MCAS Atsugi, Japan, which operated this aircraft between February and June 1958. After briefly being placed in storage after withdrawal at Litchfield Park, AZ in October 1958, it was placed on show at various locations, at some stage the aircraft's original photoreconnaissance nose being replaced with the gun-equipped nose of a standard Banshee fighter. In 2012 it was loaned to Pima by the National Museum of the Marine Corps.

The FH-1 Phantom the first all-jet aircraft operated by the USN and USMC being delivered from 1947, but with the rapid progress of jet aircraft at the time, was already obsolete within a couple of years and was withdrawn from front-line service in 1949, although it carried on with the reserves till 1954, by which time the McDonnell FH-2 Banshee and Grumman F9F Panther had taken over. Although this was a civilian S-43, it has been finished to represent an aircraft of VMJ-2, San Diego, ca. 1939 that was destroyed by fire in 1942. Built in 1937, this "Baby Clipper" was delivered to Inter-Island Airways as NC16934 in 1937 and was sold to Alaska Airlines in 1949. In June 1951 it was damaged and sank in Chignik Bay, Alaska (not Tetlin Lake as widely reported), not being recovered till 1981 when it was taken to the USMC museum at Quantico, VA
