Later in life came back to Prestwick as TF-AAH

Converted to a stretched CL-44J in late 1965. Sold to Cargolux and converted to all-cargo in 1971.

Loftleidir operated four CL-44J variants, stretched from CL-44D aircraft, for low fare scheduled Transatlantic passenger flights, however this freighter CL-44 was bought from Flying Tigers.

Icelandic Airlines leased this airplane from Seaboard World.

Icelandic flew a number of stretched DC-8's leased from Seaboard World in the early 1970's. This short body DC-8-54 was the only airplane I saw with an Icelandic registration. It was parked outside Lockheed Air Service's hangars 1/2 getting some maintenance between flights.

My father, Rasmus Pettersen, took this picture at the old IAB at JFK. My mother and I flew in this DC-4, named "Hekla", to Norway in the summer of 1954. Shortly after this picture was taken, it was replaced by DC-6's on the North Atlantic run.
