Returning from a short flight around the Western Isles

Taxying in for a refuel after crossing the pond from Iceland en-route to Wittmundhafen for the aggressor contract. Ex N250WL, Israeli 749 and USN 152853.

Sitting forlornly in a quiet corner of the airport is this former French military example of the Noralpha. It was cancelled as permanently withdrawn from use in October 2010

Originally flew with British European Airways from 1946 then Hunting Clan 1949 to 1960. Later it went to Tradair then Air Safaris until withdrawn from use in 1962.

Built for KLM in 1946 as PH-TAV then sold to Capital Airlines in 1950. Ended up in Chile as CC-CAA and withdrawn from use in 1968, then scrapped in 1979.

Initially allocated 60-5452 for the USAF. Returned to Lockheed as N4654 in Mar 1967, then to Colombian AF as FAC1002 in Jan 1969. Crashed and burned landing at Bogota, Colombia August 26, 1969.

As the badge states, VR-58 are known as the "Sunseekers", but unfortunately they didn't get any at Prestwick on this day. The aircraft is named "City of St. Augustine" and is based at Jacksonville NAS in Florida.

Later sold to Continental Air Services as XW-PBP and wrecked on the ground in a severe thunderstorm at Vientiane (VLVT), Laos on 24 March 1964.

Built in 1952 and originally named Clipper Plymouth Rock, but renamed as above after a period of being leased out. In 1967 it was converted to C-118A standard and flew with the Fuerza Aerea de Chile as 987. In 1992 it was acquired by Woods Air Fuel as N861TA and burnt out in a take-off crash from Nixon Fork Mine, AK on 2 January 1998. McIntyre labeled this as N6117C which it clearly is not. All I have to go on is 22C on the n/w door. Since N6522C and N7822C existed at the same time I compared names and since N7822C was Clipper Undaunted, I went with Clipper Hanover as its length fits that on the image better.
