The aircraft sadly crashed on 22 June 1987 near Inebolu (Turkey).

Four Italian Starfighters visited Eindhoven air base (the Netherlands) for a squadron exchange with 314sq Redskins, operating the NF-5A/B. The quartet, arrived from homebase Grazzanise and were assigned to 10°Gruppo. This F-104S was built by by Fiat Aviazione/Aeritalia as an F-104S in 1972 and converted to ASA-M (Modificato) standard by Alenia in 1995. It was redelivered only in 1998. This F-104S was built by by Fiat Aviazione/Aeritalia as an F-104S in 1972 and converted to ASA-M (Modificato) standard by Alenia in 1995. It was redelivered only in 1998.
