This replica of Kinsgsford Smith and Ulm's famous 'Southern Cross' was built as a bicentennial project at Parafield and registered on 3 Jun '87. First flight made in Aug '87. It is powered by 3 x 300hp Jacobs R-755A2 (original had 220hp Wright J-5s) and endurance 7 hrs at 90kts. Badly damaged on landing 25 Apr '02 at Parafield after right wheel fell off on takeoff. Restored to flight by HARS in December 2023.

Given the civil registration 9M-ART in 1972 for ferrying to Australia and conversion to an agricultural aircraft. However, put in storage until registered VH-EVB on 7 January 1982. Restored in 1987 and used for joy flights for about a decade. Several changes of ownership and a long restoration later, it was re-registered VH-SYS(3) on 15 March 2017. Currently potentially airworthy but in outdoor storage at the Historical Aircraft Restoration Society.
