Built in 1940 by Hawker Aircraft Ltd. at Kingston-on-Thames, Z2389 served with five different RAF Squadrons in 1941, including the American volunteer 71 'Eagle' Squadron at Martlesham Heath. As part of emergency war supplies for Russia, Z2389 was crated up and joined the 767 Regiment of the Red Air Force on the Kola Peninsula. On the 20th of June 1942, it was shot down. Z2389's pilot F/Lt Ivan Kalashnikov survived the forced landing. Fifty years later, Z2389 was found, and its remains arrived at Brooklands on the 14th October. Restoration took from 1999 to 2019 - now with Squadron code XR-J.

Registration expired in 2012. Had been used as an engine testbed for Williams.

Ex N700XL. Became HB-LNX in July 1983. To N4938S in May 2022.

Despite its rather faded appearance at the time, this Hunter remains such an attractive aircraft. When this photo was taken in 2011 it was the Gate Guard for RAF Valley, but has since been replaced by a black BAe Hawk T1 (XX156). However, the aircraft remains in Anglesey, at a museum.

Looking very shiny and new in the hangar at Valley, and yet to be given Squadron insignia, not so long after delivery 9 years ago.

Photographed undergoing maintenance in the Gaydon hangar at RAF Valley, XX312 is seen without any seats in the cockpit. No 208(R) Squadron, the colours of which this Hawk is seen wearing, disbanded in 2016. This Hawk is no longer flying.

Pictured in the Gaydon hangar at RAF Valley, this Hawk is pictured wearing the markings of No. 208(R) Squadron. The squadron finally disbanded in 2016, and XX188 now flies with the Royal Air Force Aerobatic Team, The Red Arrows.
