Australian bought Jetstreams to operate subsidised air services in remote areas of Queensland. The costs of a first-level airline operating third-level services resulted in other airlines in the group with more appropriate aircraft and overheads taking over the routes. The Jetstreams went to Eastern Australia Airlines. VH-TQL was withdrawn from use in 2002.
