The first Koolhoven aircraft to reach the Union of South Africa was a model FK.41, modified by Desoutter in the UK to a Desoutter Dolphin. It was the second production aircraft built by the Koolhoven factory in Holland and was purchased by Marcel Desoutter and registered G-AAGC. It was sold to the Air Taxi Company (Pty) Ltd. of Wingfield in Cape Town and was registered ZS-ADX. The aircraft featured prominently in the search for the famous Swiss pilot Carl Nauer, who went missing along the West coast of Africa in August 1933.

Built by Koolhoven (together with G-AAGC) as production examples for Desoutter, who acquired the license for the production of FK.41's in England. both aircrat were fitted with a Cirrus Hermes I, just like the Desoutter-built aircraft would have. G-AALI was the third Dutch-built F.K.41, arriving in the UK in August 1929. It featured the lowered tailplane and an additional fin area. Exported to Australia in October 1930, where it became VH-ULX. The aircraft was reverted to the high-set tailplane and acquired a heavy duty undercarriage. Photo from Harm Reinders
