Cloncurry was a fuel stop for aircraft travelling between Darwin, the normal point of entry for flights arriving in Australia from Asia and Europe, and the populous south-east of the country. It is not known if this photo shows G-AECB heading south or north. The one and only Croydon forced-landed on a reef in the Timor Sea on its return flight to the UK and was abandoned.

The one and only ST-18 Croydon. The British 12-seater set off for a return flight to Australia on July 30, 1936 in the hope the publicity might attract orders. But it got the wrong publicity when on the return trip it force-landed on Seringapatam Reef in the Timor Sea on October 7 after navigation errors. Fishermen rescued the crew but the Croydon was abandoned to the elements.
