This aircraft was delivered to the Czechoslovak air force in 1965. In 1982, it was converted to an ejection seat testbed and used as such by the VZLÚ until 1991, when it was placed in storage. After it was retired from service in 1997, it eventually ended up on outdoor display at the former steel works in the Dolní Vitkovice district of Ostrava and was painted in a very garish red, blue and yellow scheme. After several years in Ostrava, the aircraft was moved to the Kbely museum in Prague in 2023. I took this picture not long after it arrived at Kbely.

This Il-2 served with the 3rd Czechoslovak Combat Air Regiment when on April 20, 1945 it was hit by AA fire and crash landed with a full bomb load in no-mans-land. The plane was eventually retrieved and repaired, going on to serve after WWII ended with the Czechoslovak AF (30th Air Regiment) until 1948. It was then transferred to the National Technical Museum but was allowed to fall into a state of disrepair. The plane was rediscovered in a hangar at Kbely in 1967 and underwent extensive restoration so that it is now a fitting addition to the WWII Hangar at the Letecké Muzeum Kbely.

The VSB-66 Orlice was intended to have high-performance and was the first Czechoslovak glider designed with butterfly tail surfaces. The first of two prototypes was flown in September 1970 but shortly therefater crashed, leading to a degree of mistrust that was never overcome and to the rejection of serial production. This is the second prototype and is exhibited from the roof of the main hall of the this super museum.

The Mi-24DU is the training variant for the Mi-24D, the most obvious visual difference being the absence of the rotating remote-controlled turret built into the lower half of the fuselage. A total of 28 Mi-24 D helicopters and two Mi-24 DUs were delivered to Czechoslovakia. This example was manufactured in 1985 and delivered toVÚ 5621 Plzeň-Líně, later also serving at Prostějov and Přerov and finally from 2008 at VÚ 5525 Náměšť nad Oslavou. It's last flight was in February 2010 and a year later transported by road to LKKB. It is now on display within the museum proper.

The SG-38 was a German training glider, of which about 10,000 were produced by various manufacturers and used to train Luftwaffe pilots. During WWII, production was extended to Slovakia and Prague. After the war production continued as the nationalized Flugtechnische Fertigungsgemeinschaft Prag was renamed Aerospace Production Company (Letecká výrobní společnost - LTVS) Letňany and around 100 slightly modified versions were produced. This original exhibit contains some reproduction parts and a complete renovation for display was completed in March 1971.

This is the only Czechoslovak L-29 to wear camouflage. These markings were an experimental coating developed within the research task LERAN and applied in February 1975. These special synthetic paints were intended to reduce the heat radiation of the aircraft and thus limit detection by weapons with infrared guidance. Since its last flight in March 1977 it has remained in storage but has now been placed on display at the super Letecké Muzeum Kbely.

This plane was built as an Avia-14M and operated by the MNO (Ministry of National Defence) from July 1958. From April 1961, it then flew with CSA as OK-MCB but returned to the Air Force and was converted to -14FG around 1967/1968. It made its last flight in April 1994 from Pardubice to Kbely and then stored base side on the grass. It has now been moved into the Letecké Muzeum Kbely for display and beautifully restored.
