slide scan from the NK collection. - This ex-United Caravelle was the only one of the type that BIAS ever operated, for one year only between 1971 and 1972. After follow-on services with Air Touring and Catair, the Caravelle was withdrawn at Le Bourget in 1975.

Converted by Sabena to swing-tail configuration for Air Zaire circa1967 and later, while with Kinair Cargo as 9Q-CBK, it was destroyed in a crash near Kinshasa. No details can be found, but maybe the tail became unlatched?

slide scan from the NK collection. - BIAS suspended operations a few months after this slide had been taken, and OO-AMI was transferred to Pomair together with its sister ship (OO-CMB). Later, it flew for Martinair and Capitol Airways and was finally withdrawn from use as N904CL at Fort Lauderdale FL in the early eighties.

slide scan from the NK collection. - One of the very few DC-6s, which are still alive at the time of upload! The aircraft still flies in Alaska with Everts Air Fuel; it was in service with BIAS more than fifty years ago, from 1969 till 1971.

Originally built for US based Western Airlines in 1953, this DC-6B was with Lloyd International as G-ASTW from June '64 to April '66 and ended its days in Niger. Smartly painted here with dark red (maroon) stripe.
