In 1991, this aircraft was in a very poor condition. Fortunately, is has now been restored in immaculate condition, carrying full markings and its serial 027 (which was not visible when this picture was taken). It is a composite aircraft as it has the engines and props of SP-LKE c/n 23442002 and 39 c/n 18436204.

Built in 1943 and in Soviet service initially. Taken on by the Polish air force as 05 in August 1951, used by the Officers Flying School in Dęblin. Operated by LOT as SP-LDA for a few months mid-1965 and returned to the air force as 027. Said to have been the last airworthy Polish Li-2 until 1974. Repainted several times at the museum, in full markings again as shown since 2008.

Now on display in this elevated position in the main museum hangar.

Having the cn painted on the tail fin certainly makes life easier!

The Russian-built DC-3 had nine-cylinder ASh-62 radials derived from the R-1820 Cyclone. They remind me of my mother's old bean slicer.

Whilst this aircraft looks in poor condition, it is being prepared to be re-painted. The Li-2 was a licence built Douglas DC-3
