First flight 5th May 1949. Delivered to RAF as VS618 18th May 1949. Declared non-effective 17th August 1955. Registered G-AOLK 25th April 1956. Made its last flight 9th October 2009 and cancelled by the CAA 9th February 2010. Now with the RAF Museum.

Ex VS618. Preserved in RAF marks at the RAF Museum, Hendon from 2010 until it was moved to store at Cosford in 2017. The registration was cancelled by the CAA on 9 February 2010

Alan Hilton's Prentice airborne from Southend in the capable hands of Keith Pogmore. Taken near Hanningfield Reservoir from Beagle Terrier G-ASAK. The aircraft passed to the RAF Museum in October 2009. It was flown to Cosford for repainting into its former military markings as VS618 and displayed at Hendon until moving to the RAFM Reserve Collection at Stafford by December 2016.

Prentices G-AOKL (VS610) and G-AOLK which operated as "The Prentice Pair" formation team flown by Terry Dann and Keith Pogmore respectively, for the two days of the Debden Air Show on 26th & 27th September 1992. The airfield was re-opened especially for the event. This was probably the last time a Prentice formation team operated at a public airshow.

This 1949 aircraft, formerly VS618, was one of the 252 RAF-surplus Prentices bought up by Freddie Laker and ferried to his company ATEL at Southend and Stansted for conversion as 5-seater GA tourers. Despite a price tag of just £1500, only 28 were civilianised and the rest were scrapped. Since 1964 this one was owned by Alan Hilton Smith (AHS).
