Ex 44-86727

Former B-25J 44-86727, later re-designated as a TB-25J and transferred to the RCAF in 1952 as a Mitchell Mk.III, serial number 5230. Sold and operated by South West Air Contractors of Deming, New Mexico as N98725 from 1962-1969. Displayed by 1976 as '328217' at the USMC Museum at Quantico and later at MCAS El Toro and MCAS Miramar. Placed on loan to the Flying Leather Necks Aviation Museum at Miramar in 1987 and believed to be in storage at the time of upload while the museum is relocates to a new site..

Built as a B-25J-30-NC, serial 44-86727, later redesignated as a TB-25J. It was transferred to the RCAF as a Mitchell Mk.III, serial number 5230. Fitted with spray bars at this time, this would usually indicate use as an agricultural sprayer. However, the owner of the aircraft at this time was Meteorology Operations Inc., which would lead to speculation that the aircraft was used in airborne fog dispersal efforts. Heavy fog is a problem in some inland areas of California at certain times of the year.

Originally an air force aircraft finished in marines markings.

Built for USAAF as 44-86727. Transferred to Canada as 5230. Sold post-war as N92875 and operated in executive role. Acquired by the USMC Museum and restored to represent the PB-1J Mitchells operated during and after WW2.
