Escaped being impressed by the RAAF at the start of World War II to help maintain air services between Tasmania and the Australian mainland. Crashed into Tanners Bay, Flinders Island, Tasmania on May 29, 1942, when attempting to return to the island following an engine failure. The DH89A registered in Australia as VH-UXZ in 2005 is not this aircraft. It wears the same livery as the original VH-UXZ except it is named Lady Penrhyn.

It was later civil registered as G-AJSL. The markings recall the original VH-UXZ of ANA, cn 6365, which crashed off Flinders Island in 1942.
