"Big Bill" taxying for departure on runway 24 at Southend. It flew its last service for BAF two months later on 3rd June 1976 and was sold to SOACO as TR-LWP, departing Southend as such on 10th June 1976. Broken up at Brazzaville in 1986.

I wasn't too unusual to see a Carvair making a landing at Southend with an engine out and the fire crews at the ready. Note the WW2-vintage Matador water truck at right

'KN was stored from November 1971 till mid-December 1972 when it entered the ATEL hangar for overhaul and repaint in the new BAF dark blue lower surface colours. Channel Airways Heron G-APKW can be seen at left

Photographed after I disembarked from it having arrived on flight VF320 from Southend. Note that at this time it carried British United Airways titles (not British United Air Ferries).

Had been returned to ATEL for maintenance in November 1971 and placed in storage. It was removed from storage on 18th December 1972 and brought back into service at considerable expense to re-enter service with BAF on 27th May 1973, named "Big Bill". Sold in June 1976 to SOACO as TR-LWP. Broken up at Brazzaville in 1986.
