First active R6D, flight delivered to VR-5 with Donald Douglas, Sr. on board. 1954-1955: Converted to R6D-1Z at NAS Corpus Christi, TX. 1955: VR-21, NAS Barbers Point, HI. 1962: Redesignated VC-118B. Ca.1965: Fleet Composite Squadron 1 (VC-1). Note: From 1955 to 1983: Including during the Vietnam War: the airplane served as a flag transport for the Commander in Chief Pacific and Commander in Chief Pacific Fleet. 1984: National Museum of Naval Aviation.

This was the first active R6D-1, delivered with Donald Douglas Sr. aboard in 1951. Converted to R6D-1Z in 1954/55 so redesigned as VC-118B in 1962. While serving VR-21 and VC-1 between 1955 and 1983, used as VIP transport for the CinC Pacific Fleet. Ferried to Pensacola in 1983

Delivered new to the US Navy in 09.52 as an R6D-1. Retired in 11.83 and preserved in the external store area of the NMNA at Pensacola.

C-118B BuNo 128424 was configured as a VIP transport during service with the US Navy.
