Delivered new to Hawaian Airlines in June 1976.(N679HA). In March 1981 leased to Alisarda (HB-IKG). and re-registered I-SMEU in June 1984. In September '91 to Meridiana. Returned to HawaIan Airlines in December '98 (N649HA). wfu September 2001 for scrap at Mojave (CA).

The registration is a clue that this DC-9 was delivered first to North Central Airlines (September 16, 1976). With a name change to Republic Airlines in 1979 and merger with Northwest Airlines in 1986, the aircraft was in service until an accident put it out of action. On May 19, 2005, it suffered a failure of one (of two) hydraulic systems. Landing safely at Minneapolis, the crew inadvertently shut down the engine with the good hydraulic pump. Cascading failures of the nose wheel steering, brakes and thrust reversers for lack of hydraulic pressure caused the aircraft to collide with an A319.

Delivered Finnair 1976, but leased immediately to BWIA. Returned to Finnair in 1977 and operating for Finnair until 2003 (except of 1993/1994- lease to Aeropostal). Since 2004 stored at Kiev Borispol

Delivered new to North Central Airlines 27th May 1977, to Republic July 1979, to Northwest Oct 1986 and to Delta Oct 2008. Ferried KMSP-KMZJ 2nd June 2011 and scrapped May 2015

Ex Swissair HB-ISP, registered 4th Oct 1983 to Muse Air which became Transtar Airlines. Then operated for Eastern Airlines, Continental Airlines and transferred to Northwest 11th March 1992. Merged into Delta Airlines Oct 2008

Delivered new to Allegheny Airlines as N920VJ 10th Oct 1975, then to Eastern as N401EA 16th Nov 1978, transferred to Northwest March 1994 and merged into Delta Oct 2008. Retired KMZJ (Marana) 5th Jan 2013, scrapped

Delivered new to Finnair (OH-LYR) in September 1976. Went to Khors Aircompany in December 2003. In August 2004 over to UM Air, where she has flown until Februari 2010. Stored/scrapped at Kiev Borispol in October 2010

Delivered to Eastern Nov 77 as N997EA. Re-reg N415EA Sep 78. Later with TWA as N415EA. Retired Oct 99.
