One of a small deployment of CH-47s and AH-1s to Greenham.

During the Falklands war it was caught on the ground by a Harrier and damaged by cannon fire. It was later finished off by a cluster bomb from another Harrier. Close by is also SA330L Puma AE-501 which suffered the same fate. Both aircraft belonged to Batallon de Aviacion de Combate 601.

This Chinook made an appearance on static display at an airshow at RAAF Laverton, c.1979. It was delivered to the RAAF in March 1974 and returned to the USA in September 1993 as part of a deal to remanufacture part of the RAAF Chinook fleet. It remained in the USA, now as a CH-47D, with the US Army, serial 93-931.

During the 1980s the annual Open Days at the Watsonia Army Base in Melbourne were always well-supported by an air element, including RAAF Chinooks of 12 Squadron. A15-012 was present at the 1981 display. Delivered new to the RAAF in March 1974, it was returned to the USA in September 1993 in a remanufacturing deal with Boeing and upgraded to CH-47D standard for the US Army, serial 93-934.
