The original VH-AQJ was delivered to the RAAF in 1940 as A17-26, one of the first Australian-manufactured Tigers. Post-war, civilianised and registered VH-AQJ for the Tasmanian Aero Club, Launceston, on 3 April 1946. In the mid-'50s converted to Ag Tiger. Retired Oct 1965 & stored dismantled at Parafield. Most parts used in 1973 restoration, but unfortunately aircraft destroyed in a crash Dec '79. Other parts from original were used as the basis of this Luskintyre rebuild which first flew Oct '84.

It took some sleuthing to track down the real identity of this aircraft, which is not cn 559 as the Register shows. Built by DHA Mascot to an RAF order as DX537 but diverted to the RAAF as A17-423. Acquired rebuild cn T202 along the way. Civilianised as VH-AZH with the Royal Queensland Aero Club but crashed at Archerfield 20 Sep 58. Remains stored and later rebuilt as VH-UIE, 17 Aug 95. The sad remains of VH-CEJ in the Transaero hangar for rebuilding. This late-production Australian Tiger came on RAAF strength in Nov 1944 as A17-746 but went straight to storage at Tamworth. Post-war, it was used at Wagga and Uranquinty until 1953. Sold ex Tocumwal storage on 15 April 1954 to Rockampton Aero Club and registered VH-CEJ. Rebuilt in 1968 by Cec Heit and registered VH-CES, she was rebuilt again in 1982 and reverted to VH-CEJ. On the Register with an erroneous "T" rebuild cn.

This aircraft was built for the RAAF in 1944 and immediately placed in storage until 1948. It then saw service at Point Cook and Uranquinty until 1952, when it was 'retired'. It was sold and civilianised in 1958, becoming VH-RQA(3), later VH-BQN(2). It was partially destroyed in a bushfire in 1977 but was rebuilt to fly again in the '80s. It is currently with Tiger Moth Joyflights back at Point Cook and is seen here fresh from another rebuild and in a new colour scheme.

The oldest airworthy Tiger in Australia, this rare pre-War, UK-built example was registered in Australia new as VH-UVZ on 12 August 1938 to Airflite Ltd. of Mascot. It crashed into Sydney Harbour in 1937, but was re-built and later impressed into the RAAF in August 1940 as A17-691. In 1947 it was restored to the civil Register as VH-BBP, later becoming VH-PCD before being withdrawn from use in July 1961. It once again carries its original registration and since 2000 resides with the Temora Aviation Museum.

Aaaah, de Havilland...sunset arrival at the Wide Bay International Airshow. This is actually the third Tiger Moth (& the 5th aircraft) to carry the registration VH-RVE: the other Tigers were both old Royal Victorian Aero Club machines. This particular example was built in the UK in 1941 for the RAF as T7093. Post-war it became G-AMMX and later found its way to New Zealand as ZK-BAN, before coming to Australia for a re-build.
