Highlight of the Koksijde show was this marvelous looking Wessex HU5, which arrived from RNAS Culdrose. The HU5 is a UK-built turbine-powered development of the Sikorsky H-34 Choctaw. The HU5 (101 built) was initially produced for the Royal Navy and later for the Royal Air Force. Within the RN it was operated as an anti-submarine warfare and utility helicopter, but was also used for SAR missions. The type entered service in '61, and had a service life of 'some 40 years before being retired in the UK. This XS484 also served during the Falkland War. It was scrapped at Hanningfield Metals in '97.

A deviating construction number for a RoCAF F-5F, as most number start with VF and VH. This is caused by the fact that this Tiger II was intented for delivery to the Paraguay Air Force around 1997. Eighteen aircraft were on the production lines, but the deal eventually was cancelled. This is FMS serial 77-0341. The aircraft was withdrawn from use in October 2014, a month after this picture was taken.

Originally built as a F-4M and first flown on 20 November 1968. It was delivered to RAF 2sq, on most probably 31 January 1969. XV430 is seen here afterits arrival from homebase RAF Wildenrath (Germany) at the static of Koksijde. At that time, already redesignated to FGR2. After a long operational career, the Phantom was withdrawn from use on 5 July 1991. It was first stored for a period at RAF Wattisham, but then scrapped at that location in February 1992.

Delivered to the USAF in Mar'81, and directly assigned to the 36th Tactical Fighter Wing at Bitburg AB (Germany). It flew there with the 53rd Tactical Fighter Squadron (as pictured) as well as the 22nd TFS. It was transferred to the 32nd TFS at Soesterberg AB in Nov'90, returned to Bitburg in Apr'91 and continued with the 22nd and 53rd. On 30 May 1995, the Eagle crashed just after take-off on the Spangdahlem golf course killing the pilot. Apparently, the crash was caused by a faulty connection which was assembled during maintenance of ailerons and elevators.

Built as Kfir C1 (IAF serial 709) and later modified to Kfir C1P. 709 was leased to the USN between Apr'85-May'88. The USN/USMC leased 25 Kfirs between '85 and '89, which were officially designated F-21A. They were modified for use as unarmed adversaries. 12 F-21s were painted in this 3-tone blue-gray "ghost" scheme and were operated by Fighter Squadron (VF) 43 "Challengers" ('AD'), operating out of Oceana. In 1988 they were returned and replaced by the F-16N. The other 13 were assigned to VMFAT-401 at MCAS Yuma (AZ), these were replaced by the F-5E in '89. 709 is last seen stored at Tel Aviv.
