This A-26B was completed in 1945 but never taken up by the USAAF due to the end of the war. It was registered as NX67834 and in 1947 set the round-the-world speed record (in 78 hours, 55 minutes, 12 seconds). Somehow, this aircraft had ended up in Iran by 1986. It has been preserved here in USAAF colours. When this photo was taken, the aicraft did not carry its serial.

It was registered as NX67834 and in 1947 set the round-the-world speed record (in 78 hours, 55 minutes, 12 seconds). Somehow, this aircraft had ended up in Iran by 1986. It has been preserved here in USAAF colours. When this photo was taken, the aicraft did not carry its serial.

This is former C-7A 61-2388 that was used by the CIA in Iran for flights along and across the Soviet Union border under project Ibex. For quite a while, this aircraft was in the museum in its original colour scheme and carrying Iranian Air Force markings and serial 553. Unfortunately, by early 2008 it had been repainted in this terrible colourscheme, temporarily with registration "EP-RAJ", but now without any registration.
