Super Widgeon has larger engines

Beautifully carved wooden yokes set off this restored and modernized interior.

Never expected to see a Widgeon here. It used to operate in Quebec.

Fifteen Grumman Widgeons were supplied to the Royal Navy under Lend-Lease for use mainly in the West Indies between 1943 and 1945, and this aircraft is marked to represent one of these. The serial and markings are not authentic for this particular aircraft though.

A nice looking Widgeon with IO-470 engines

After a complete rebuild, this Widgeon has just emerged from the Kal Air Repair hangar.

This 1944 built Widgeon has gone through many owners and was seen at Merrill Field. In 1970 it was converted to Super Widgeon. Cessna 170B N2881C is parked behind.

Built in 1946, this Widgeon had the original Ranger engines replaced with Continental O-470s and Hartzel propellers around 1955.

This 1945-built Widgeon was converted to Super Widgeon by McKinnon in 1958. Among other improvements, Super Widgeons have more powerful Lycoming GO-480 engines with 3-bladed props, a strengthened hull and landing gear and larger passenger windows. It is seen here undergoing restoration following a mishap in Dec 1993 on Lake Griffin near Leesburg, FL. Restoration was finished in 2009, but it almost immediately suffered another accident, when on 4 Aug 2009 it struck a log on Hewitt Lake near Talkeetna, AK. The aircraft was again recovered and repaired, and it was still flying happily by 2018.
