The aircraft was delivered to the USAF as T-29C 52-1096 in September 1953, it was converted to AC-131A in April 1959 then AT-29C in May 1960, and re-designated ET-29C in 1962. It passed to the FAA as N244 in September 1962, re-registered N247 in September 1963 and then N28 in November 1963, N254 in 1966 and lastly to N94 in 1973. Restored to the USAF as 52-1096 in April 1977 but offered for sale and acquired by Time Aviation Services as N45786 in August that year. The last confirmed sighting at Tucson was in 1986 and thought scrapped around the time the registration was cancelled in July 1988.

This aircraft was last reported stored at St. Louis Downtown Airport in 2022, and can be seen there on Google Earth imagery date 11/2022.

This aircraft is now exhibited at the Minnesota Air National Guard Museum at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport.

At the time the aircraft had only recently been acquired by the CAF and the titles of a former operator, Ortner Air Service, can still just be discerned under the paint on the upper fuselage. Subsequently restored in USAAF markings and named "China Doll", it was for many years a common sight at US airshows, but in recent times it has been stored outside the premises of the CAF Southern California Wing at Camarillo Airport, CA. However, according to the Wing's Facebook page, it has now been moved inside and will be restored to static display condition.

The aircraft, which originally served with the Republic of China Air Force/RoCAF, was on loan from the USAF Museum. When the CAF moved to Midland, TX., in 1991 it was relocated to Warfield Air National Guard Base, Martin State Airport, Middle River, MD., where it was refurbished, and is now displayed painted in Maryland ANG markings with the false serial "10004" and can be seen there on Google Maps street view.

This aircraft has been upgraded with a Continental IO-550 engine and a McCauley "Black Mac" carbon propeller.

The aircraft was built and painted for the Ecuadorian Army but for some reason was never delivered and was stored at LAS, being first noted there in January 1989. In 1993 it was placed on the Kenyan register as Kenya as 5Y-TAJ and used by the United Nations for famine relief flights in East Africa.

In use as a Battle Damage Repair training airframe. This aircraft is now exhibited at the Midland Air Museum, Coventry, painted as a Royal Canadian Air Force CF-101B serial 17447 / 447.

Assorted Moths, and the odd interloper, parked outside Woburn Abbey in the evening of Saturday 15th August 1987 on the occasion of that year's DH Moth Club Rally in the adjoining Deer Park.

The aircraft is registered on the FAA database as a Cessna 190 so was presumably built as such, and the original Continental W670 engine was replaced with a more powerful Jacobs R755 at a later date.
