This Widgeon has just diverted here without a flight plan and without establishing radio contact (made a B737 overshoot) after flying over Washington State and getting stuck on top of a low marine cloud layer. You can see the pilot (who had his whole family with him) explaining himself to an immigration officer. He was treated leniently, but I'm sure Homeland Security gave him an ear-full when he went back to the USA.

Converted in 1962 to TEAL Super Widgeon with 260hp Continental IO-470-D engines and two-bladed variable pitch propellers. Crashed at Kelly's Bay, Kaipura Harbour, Auckland on January 21, 1980.

Imported into Canada in 1961 and registered to the same private individual until export as N4492N in 1983. Still current in 2020.

Portuguese Naval Aviation was one of the first forces in the world to have the G-44 at its disposal, putting them into service from Lisbon, Aveiro and the Azores in 1942 with serials between 119 and 130. They were used for liaison, reconnaissance, navigation and photogrammetry training. With the end of Naval Aviation in 1952 the Widgeons went to the Air Force until retirement in 1968. This one, named 'Moçambique' with the Hydrographic Mission there, became CS-AHF before preservation
