Delivered to the USAAF as 44-76821 then to the RAF as KN547 in 1945. Returned to the USAF as 44-76821 in 1955 then to the Luftwaffe in 1956. Given serial 1406 in 1967. To the Swedish Air Force as 79008 in 1975. Registered as SE-IKL in 1982, N5467Y in 1984 and N56V in 1998. Still current on the register in 2022.

The Swedish Air Force operated the Dakota till the early eighties.

Flown to Malmen museum in 1982. To SE-CFP in 1984.

Three Dakotas were flown to Malmen museum in 1982: 79006, 79007 and 79008 (camo).

Currently displayed at the Erickson Collection, Madras, Oregon.

Preserved outside the Garrison at Karlsborg, not at the airfield. The aircraft was previously preserved at Skokloster Museum, Sweden and was transported by barge to the current location in May 2009.

An extraordinary feature of the expanded Flygvapenmuseum, opened on 12.6.10, are these Dakota remains. On 13.6.52, exactly 48 years before this photo, it was shot down over the Baltic by Soviet fighters while on a secret ELINT mission, checking installations in what are now Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. Two Catalinas deployed on SAR after the incident were also attacked by Mig-15s. The Soviets denied the shoot-down till 1991 and the wreckage was not found until 2003
