A new built Low Rate Initial Production CH-47F (Lot 1) that was accepted by the US Army on 29 June 2007. The Chinook is seen here in a war environment while deployed to Kandahar airfield, Afghanistan. Although no unit markings were carried, the helicopter was assigned to the 82nd AVN, 3rd Batallion, Company B, normally based at Fort Bragg (NC).

Much to see on this picture, taken from a Dash 7, just before touch-down, the pilot made a classic high key landing. On the left below, 2x Blackwater 212s were awaiting take-off. Just left of that (from low to high) a RAF Herc and a Royal Navy Sea King can be seen, then a bunch of Thunderbolt IIs, some closed unmanned aerial system clamshells, then USSOCOM with 3x MH-47Gs and 4x MH-60s, again 2x RAF Hercs, then the civil platform, the control tower, a Herc on the visitors platform, massive rows of Blackhawks and Chinooks. On top, 2x US Army Dash 7s and a Mi-26, several Chinooks and DOSAW UH-1s

Dutch Fokker built F-16A FMS serial 85-0135 was delivered to 315sq of the Royal Netherlands Air Force at Twente air base on 30 June 1987. It received a Mid-Life Update from June 1989. Here the F-16AM is seen, fully armed, with the 1(NLD) Air Task Force at Kandahar supporting the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF). J-135 returned to homebase Volkel in late 2013. It was withdrawn from use at Volkel air base and eventually scrapped by late 2020.

Dutch Fokker built F-16A with FMS 87-0514 was delivered to the Royal Netherlands Air Force on 2 March 1990. It received a Mid-Life Update in 1998 and is seen here during an anti-Taliban mission while serving the 1(NLD)Air Task Force. The aircraft is armed with its internal gun for strafing, AIM-9 Sidewinders, GBU-12 Paveway II guided bombs and a targeting pod.

Flying over Uruzgan, Afghanistan. This Cougar was delivered to the Royal Netherlands Air Force on 7 March 1997. It was assigned to the 1st (NL)Air Task Force during 2009 and 2010. The helicopter performed a hard break left and pass just underneath the photoship, another 300sq Cougar.

This dusty Sea King HC4 of 846sq was deployed to Kandahar, Afghanistan, supporting the Operation Herrick within the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF). The helicopter made its first flight on 27 June 1980 and was delivered to the Royal Navy. The Sea King was sold to the Marineflieger (German Navy) for spares only in 2015, and is believed to be scrapped in Germany.

Supporting the UK Special Air Service (SAS) in Afghanistan, this HC4A was modified with FLIR and additional ECM systems. The Sea King of 846sq was deployed to Kandahar supporting the UK Operation Herrick within the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF). The helicopter made its first flight on 1 May 1980 and was delivered to the Royal Navy on 3 June 1980. The Sea King was sold as spares only to Pakistan as one of seven surplus Royal Navy Sea Kings. It was handed over on 25 May 2017

This March 1992 built Mi-8 started its flying career as RA-27059 with Vityaz. In August 1993 it started to serve Helitaxi Colombia in an all-black colour with 'Vertical de Aviación' titles. It is seen here serving a US Transportation Command Directorate of Acquisition contract in Afghanistan. The Mi-8 was written off on 22 June 2018 while being parked at the helipad of ISA Intercolombia at El Valle (Toledo municipiality of northern Antioquia province) when it was deliberately set on fire by "Frente 36" FARC dissidents. The helicopter was burnt out, no casualties reported.

Dutch Fokker built F-16A(R) with FMS 80-3646 was delivered to the Royal Netherlands Air Force (KLu, Koninklijke Luchtmacht) on 4 June 1984. It started to serve 306sq as a reconnaissance aircraft. Later on, it served the Test Group KLu between early 1986 and late 1990. It received a Mild-Life Update in 1999 and returned as a F-16AM. The aircraft served the 1(NLD) Air Task Force from Kandahar between 2008 and 2009 and is seen here during an anti Taliban mission. It was armed with its internal gun for strafing, AIM-9 Sidewinders, GBU-12 Paveway II guided bombs and a targeting pod.

Sneaky click of an Antei during while it was unloaded at one of the platforms of Sperenberg. The aircraft was first flown on 31 July 1975 and assigned to the air force with Aeroflot titles. The An-22 became RA-0883 on 24 February 1993 with 8th vtap. The transporter was put on a major overhaul with the 308th ARZ in late 1995 but was never completed. The aircraft was last seen at Ivanovo-Severny between May 1999 and August 2004, became derelict near the 308th ARZ hangars and was eventually broken up by Autumn 2004.

The 20 gvardeiskiy / aviatsionnyy polk istrebiteley-bombardirovshchikov (20 gv/apib, ground attack unit) operated with 35 Su-17s, in the M-3/M-4/UM-3 (NATO reporting names FITTER-H/-K/-G) from Gross Dölln (Templin). I visted the base in not the very best weather, but hey its a Soviet FITTER. This M-4 was withdrawn from use by possible late 1994.
