This aircraft looks rather forlorn. It was once owned by the actor Cary Grant and when seen here its purchase was being negotiated by the Commemorative Air Force.

Was operated by Pan Am from 1969 until 1971, under military marks, on a weekly service as PA163 from Mombasa, Kenya to a satellite tracking station at Mahe, Seychelles.

During the early 1990s Pan Am Express operated several Dash 7's. This one, acquired in June 1989, was used to operate their 4 or 5x daily SAN-LAX flights. It is seen here at one of the many nice photo spots that could be found at San Diego's Lindbergh Field, affectionately known to some as Lindy Field.

With intermeshing rotors, long chimney and quadruple tailfins, the Huskie or 'Pedro' saw widespread use as a rescue helicopter. According to some sources this HH-43B was converted to an HH-43F.

San Diego's sunlit houses form a nice backdrop for this Boeing 727 freighter. It was delivered to Eastern in 1968 as N8175G and joined the UPS fleet in 1985.

The enormous B-36 was originally designed to bomb Nazi Germany from Newfoundland if necessary. Four auxiliary jet engines were added to the production aircraft which, though still slow, fulfilled an important role until the advent of the B-52.

Although not very succesful, the Tornado was America's first operational jet bomber. This is one of only three surviving B-45s.

This 1946 red Stinson was flown all over the US by Virginia Schaefer, a teacher, from 1972. It is preserved by the tower at KCCR. Virginia died in 2012.

The B-23 Dragon was a much-improved variant of the B-18 Bolo. The last 38 B-18s on order were built as Dragons in 1939-40, but never used in combat. This one saw use as a UC-67 transport.

A very old DC-6 (delivered Dec 1948), now converted to firebomber. The signs of frequent use of red fire retardant are clearly visible. Macavia's ship 20 does carry titles, almost unreadable just below the logo on the nose.
This aircraft was sold as 9Q-CPL in 1994 and became EL-WNH in 1997. By 2007 it was in use as a fire trainer at Lanseria, South Africa, and it was still there in derelict condition by 2015.

Stored at Long Beach for several years. Sale reported in August 1982, but fate unknown. The FAA incorrectly lists this aircraft as c/n 11352, which is not a valid number for a DC-3.
