I was driving through the small town of Kinglake when I heard a chopper close by. A quick dash to the back yard of the Kinglake Pub revealed 'Firebird 320' just landing. Unfortunately I was just too late to catch it in the air. It's evidently based there as there were a couple of drums of Avtur lying on the grass. This 1979 JetRanger was registered new in Australia on 27 February 1980 as VH-BLN(3).

'Firebird 305' back for yet another year of bushfire work based at Bendigo. It had been pretty quiet when I took this photo, but on Saturday 7 February the worst bushfires in Victoria's history broke out in, south and south-east of Bendigo. More than 180 people perished in 24 hours of fire-storms. Undoubtedly Firebird 305 was in the thick of the action.
