This Colombian Air Force OA-37B, seen here during its participation in CRUZEX 2013, was written off due to an accident in Malambo on 24 July 2014.

The 169th Tactical Air Support Squadron (TASS) of the Illinois Air National Guard was operating the OA-37B Dragon Fly from 1979 to March 1992. The squadron was assigned the Forward Air Control (FAC) task.

Green Flag in August 1991 saw participation of these tiny Cessna's Dragon Flies. This airframe became surplus with the US Air Force and was sold to Peru as ? in December 1996. On the picture it was still assigned to the 169th Tactical Air Support Squadron (TASS) of the Illinois Air National Guard, and tasked with the Forward Air Control mission. In 1992 the OA-37B was retired from the mission and the squadron received F-16A/Bs. The TASS became a FS (Fighter squadron. Since 1995, thee 169th is flying C-130s as 169th Airlift Squadron.

The Fuerza Aérea Dominicana once operated with eight Cessna OA-37Bs Dragonflies. Through the years, three were written off (3704, 05 and 06). All Dragonflies were retired in the early zeros after serving Escuadron de Combate only from Aug 97 onwards. After retirement, two were earmarked for sale to Colombia but were probably never transferred. In Nov 11, five OA-37Bs were seen in storage (3701, 02, 03, 07 and 08) while the sixth one (3705) was seen preserved at the main gate. Number seven (3704) was seen at the dump at San Isidro, while the eighth Dragonfly was totally destroyed in a crash.

In use at Edwards as a 'chase plane' by the based 6510 Test Squadron, hence the modified 'NOA' designation.

This A-37 was captured by the North Vietnamese and shipped to Poland for examination in 1977, together with an F-5E.

This airworthy A-37, military serial 69-6439, saw operational service with the USAF in Vietnam, and then with the South Vietnamese air force. Captured at Bien Hoa in 1975 it was impressed in the Vietnamese People's s Air Force. One of serveral A-37s purchased by Colin Pay in 1989, it was restored as VH-IVI and sold to John Smith who now displays it in his private museum. A spare J85 engine is in the foreground.
