This Il-2 Shturmovik hulk was photographed in the workshop/restoration area of the Monino musem near Moscow and, hopefully, about to be restored to its former glory. If anyone knows more about the provenance of this aircraft, then I'd be interested to hear.

This Il-2 (serial?) was built in April, 1944 at Zavod 1. On 14th Dec. 1944, piloted by Lt. Timofeyev with gunner S.Mjr. Udalov, it took-off from Szabadszállás, along with other Il-2s from 715 ShAP, to attack German vehicles on the shore of Lake Balaton. It was hit by anti-aircraft fire and ditched in the lake, from which the crew apparently survived but were lost in the cold water and their bodies never recovered (RIP). The wreckage was retrieved in 1999 and is now on display at the super RepTár Szolnoki Repülőmúzeum.

An ex-Polish Air Force aircraft, it had been used by the USAF in the 1980s to play the role of Soviet aircraft during exercises. It was rescued from an Arizona scrapyard in defiance of a 1992 order that the Migs be scrapped. Painted to represent a Korea War era aircraft.

This and CCCP-11719 shut down Heathrow airspace for an hour doing low level circuits and approaches until a Russian speaking BEA employee was brought to the control tower to translate. They were believed to be Soviet Air Force aircraft with unknown constructors numbers and were on the way to RAF Hullavington supporting an aerobatic competition. This airframe is CCCP-11110 (1), a Factory #84 aircraft with unknown c/n, but higher than 5343401. CCCP-11110 (2) was c/n 01347902 (built in 1971).

This Lim-5 is actually an ex-Polish AF example that was imported from the Netherlands in 1992, and placed on display at De Ridder Antiques in Forney, TX. I believe that this is the oldest surviving Lim-5.

The Bison bomber caused the 'bomber gap' scare in 1955 when the CIA guesstimated that 800 of them would be available by 1960. In fact, less than 100 were built.

This Fishbed was formerly 2410 with the Polish AF and N21MF is now displayed in Russian markings at the wonderful Pima Air & Space Museum. Note the lack of any internal machine guns, relying solely on rockets in combat.
