Very interesting event, the crew asked people to stand back, we did, they started up and lifted from 'among us' to go on a brief flight. Quite a downdraft. Photo taken with a short 35mm to 70mm zoom lens.

The SAML S.1 was a development of the German Aviatik B.1 which had been licence-built in Italy. It had more than double the horsepower of B.1 and although considered obsolete, remained in service until the end of World War I and beyond. In contrast, the Aviatik, a design that dated back to 1912, was largely gone by the end of 1916. Photo from: Library and Archives Canada

On display at Parco Tematico dell'Aviazione. Built to NATO requirements calling for an attack aircraft capable of operating from unprepared take-off strips less than 1100m with an empty weight under 2200 kg, FIAT won the contract as it had a plane at an advanced stage of development. The G.91 was operated by Italy, West Germany and Portugal. There were four main variants, of which this G.91T was a trainer and liaison aircraft. It carries the Phoenix crest of 60a Brigata Aerea based at Amendola-Foggia. This unit's predecessor was the Scuola di Volo Basico Avanzato Aviogetti (SVBAA).

The Ca.1 heavy bomber is not to be mistaken for the single-engine Caproni Ca1 of 1910. Also known as the Caproni 300hp bomber because of its three 100hp engines. Post-war survivors became the Ca.32. The unsuccessful Ca.2 and successful Ca.3 (post war Ca.33) were developments. Photo from: Library and Archives Canada
