XV582 was delivered to the RAF in 1969 and served 43(F) Sqdn, 111 Sqdn and lastly 228 OCU. On 24.2.88, it made a record-breaking Lands End-John O'Groats run averaging 757 mph, at the same time becoming the first RAF Phantom to pass the 5,000 hr mark. For the 30th anniversary of Treble-One's "Black Arrows" and to mark the final years of FG.1 service, this striking livery was applied in 1989. After several appearances on the display circuit and final grounding, "Black Mike" was preserved at Leuchars before a move to Cosford in October 2017 in the care of the British Phantom Aviation Group.

Seen 'off stage' at Leuchar's Battle of Britain Airshow and destined to be scrapped. Formerly from RAF No 111 Sqn.

This Phantom - known as "Black Mike" - set a Lands End to John O'Groats speed record on 24th Feb 1988. It did the 590 miles in 46:44 minutes, an average speed of 757 mph

This aircraft forms part of a children's play area at Wonderlands, a Garden Centre and Tropical butterfly garden near to Farnsfield, Nottinghamshire

Operated by No. 111 Squadron at Leuchars, Fife.

First flown in 2.64 and operated by 111 Sqn until transferred to 5 Sqn a couple of months after this shot. Later with 11 Sqn and the LTF before going back to 5 Sqn which used XP741, by then in camouflage, as a display aircraft in 1987. To Manston fire school as 8939M in 9.87 with 3164 hours recorded and destroyed 1995
