Re-manufactured in by Beech from AT-11 Kansan 42-37152 to become C-45H 52-10701 in 1954. To N9823Z from 1961 to 1965 and modified by Pac Aero to Tri Gear configuration in 1962. Flown by Sierra Pacific Airlines from 1965 until 1968 and re-registered N256RA in 1969. Subsequently passed through several owners before being impounded in Colombia circa 1988 and later allocated the military serial FAC5579. Displayed for many years at various locations around Madrid Air Force Base but by 2019 was dumped on the north side of the base. ln the storage area of the FAC museum in Parque Jaime Duque in Bogota by Mar 2024.

Medellin - Olaya Herrera Airport is only open between 06.00 and 18.00 Local time. Just after airport closure two Blackhawk appeared probably from the airbase at Rionegro. They hovered low above the runway. It was difficult for photography due to the low light and the distance from where I was standing.

Parque del Avion is loated just outside the historical center of the town of Villa de Leiva in the Boyaca district of Colombia. About 3 hours north of Bogota.

About a 15 minute walk from the main square in Villa de Leiva is a small city park called Parque del Avion. It houses a helicopter and a training aircraft from the Colombian Air Force. FAC4265 is not the original registration of this helicopter, as FAC4265 was reported as being a H.269 that was possibly written off

This flight arrived with some 30 passengers, all dressed in civilian clothes, but all must be working here for the Police, the government or security services in this extreme remote corner of the country.

This ATR flew for Azul between 2011 and 2017, since March 2022 it is flying for Satena in Colombia.

Originally deliverred to Colombia in 1968, and still going strong.

This Fokker F-28 was delivered factory new to the Colombian Air Force in January 1971, 52 Years Ago !! Unbelievable that it is still in regular use in Bogota.

A great new location for photography at the Medellins Olaya Herrera Airport. The top floor of the Arkadia Mall has three restaurants with an Airport view. Lovely panning-shots with the cities high-rise in the background are possible for those aircraft landing on runway 02. All in the comfort of a terrace with food, beer and Wifi.
