VH-MWD was one of four Cessna 402s that helped establish Masling Airlines as a third-level airline. These airlines stepped in to fill the void caused by the withdrawal of DC-3s on regional routes that could not sustain Fokker F27s. The 402s were replaced by Queen Airs and VH-MWD was sold in Papua New Guinea, becoming P2-MWD in 1974 on the commencement of that country's register.

VH-KEA came to Australia from Kenya (VP-KDZ) in 1961, probably with the Lycoming engine already installed. On renewal of its Kenyan CoA in 1960 the type had been changed to Auster 5 Special. The military Auster 5 was Lycoming powered. In Australia its type reverted to Auster J-1N but all photos show it with the American engine. VH-KEA was destroyed by an arsonist at Lake Entrance, Victoria, on November 19, 1996.

US Army Air Force aircraft diverted from the Royal Air Force which it turn had taken over a French order. These aircraft were designated P-400 and like BW176, retained RAF serials and camouflage in US service. While many P-400s were used as trainers, others were rushed to the South West Pacific as emergency fighters. They fared better in ground attack than air combat. BW176 survived until June 19, 1943 when the pilot was forced to bail out over Papua New Guinea. The other two aircraft are P-39s with a standard olive drab finish. VH-AGR was flown to Australia to escape the Japanese advance in World War II, operated by the Netherlands navy in the East Indies (Indonesia). It was impressed into the RAAF, then sold after the war ended. Then the story gets complicated. There were three Ryan ST-M2s registered VH-AGR and this is the third, registered in 1958. The first (MSN 483) crashed and the fuselage of the second (MSN 475) was used it its rebuilt, giving it a new identity. Then it crashed and another fuselage used (MSN 466). This third aircraft was sold in the US an N2617W in 1981
