The first variable-sweep aircraft from Dassault emerged as the single-engine, two-seat Mirage G fighter in 1967. The Mirage G was developed into a twin-engine, two-seat nuclear strike fighter, the Mirage G4. When under construction the requirements changed and the French military requested that the design be converted into a dedicated interceptor, This first flew in May 1971 and the second aircraft, the single-seat G8-02 first flying over a year later. However, As no funding was included for the type in the 1971-1976 French defence budget it did not enter production.

Designed in Vichy France, the MS.470 prototype first flew in December 1944 and successful testing lead to an order from the French AF of a revised variant the MS.472. The MS.472 Vanneau II was the production variant and three prototypes and 230 production aircraft were built. The type remained in service with the French AF and Navy into the late 1960s. It is a great pity that no complete airframe has survived but at least this forward section is on display at this super museum

In July 1990, France ordered 80 examples (later reduced to 50) of the slightly modified EMB-312F version, equipped with a ventral airbrake, French COMM systems and a reinforced structure that potentially increased the lifetime to 10,000 flight hours. The type replaced the Magister at the Air School of Salon-de-Provence (EPNAA, School of Piloting and Navigation of the Air Force). Tucano service in the AdlA ended in July, 2009, and this example is now on display at this super museum

Although the Bréguet 14 did not enter into combat until September 1917 it quickly became one of the best aircraft involved in WWI. Its exceptional robustness and 300 hp engine enabled it to be used on all fronts as a bomber and high altitude reconnaissance aircraft without any escort. Production ceased in 1926 with a production run of around 8,000 units exported to 14 nations. After WWI, the type's good performance gave rise to numerous civilian versions for commercial transport or mail transport.

Developed from the La Cierva C.30 by Lioré and Olivier from 1931 but only two C.302 frames were built, one before and one after WWII. Its main innovations: a spring-loaded landing gear and a device (disengageable) for driving the rotor by the engine on start-up (to reduce the long take-off run required for earlier autogyros) were all overtaken by the rapid development of helicopter advances. The example on display is the second and last C.302 produced.

The Bréguet 19 was a sesquiplane bomber and reconnaissance aircraft. Production began in 1924 and over 2, 700 examples were built in multiple variants. The Super Bidon was created specifically for a transatlantic flight attempt. It was named Point d'Interrogation (The Question Mark) and in September 1930 flew from Paris to New York City, a distance of 6,200 km (3,900 mi) making the first non-stop east-west crossing of the North Atlantic.

The experimental Antoinette VII, a further development of the Antoinette IV, was built specifically to attempt a crossing of the English Channel and claim the Daily Mail prize. Ironically, the Antoinette VII's first flight took place on 25 July 1909, the same day that Louis Blériot succeeded in crossing the channel. On display are the original fuselage and engine, but replica wings and tail unit were fitted after WWII.

This C-47's was delivered to the USAAF as 42-92449 in 1944. After WWII it became F-BEFB and was later drafted into the French AF as 92449. It passed to the museum in 1970 and was later painted in USAAF colours as 42-100558 in 2004 and is now on display in the new WWII hall. The real 42-100558 became CX-BJG in Uruguay after WWII.

This beautiful plane was delivered to Air France in September 1978. It carried the registration N94SD for the domestic US flights under the Braniff name and also wore the Pepsi branding in 1996. Alas the plane was retired in May 2003 and placed on display at this super museum a few months later.

The Djinn was the first mass produced turbine helicopter and the first French helicopter. It made its first flight in June 1953 and initially two single seat prototypes were built. The production version had two seats and a relatively undistinguished military and civilian career followed.

This is one of four prototypes and was the airframe used as the Rafale A technology demonstrator, making its first flight in July 1986. The plane was TOC by the French AF but operated by Dassault and flew concurrently with its military serial and the civil registration F-ZWRE. Later it became a flying test bed for the Snecma M88 turbofan engine as the left powerplant. The right powerplant retained the original GE F404. The plane made its 867th and last flight on 4th January 1994 before being donated to the museum for display in April 2009.

This is the second caravelle prototype and made its first flight in April 1956 as F-WHHI. In March 1957 it was re-registered F-BHHI and painted into an Air France colour scheme for promotional purposes. The frame was withdrawn in January 1976 and scrapped in the coming autumn. This nose section is preserved in the museum and has slightly different markings on each side.

Pictured being pulled out of its parking position on the Jetex FBO ramp at LFPB in order to depart. The fence borders the museum area and so they probably don't want an old grand-mère to be blown away by the jet blast.

This coaxial, contra-rotating helicopter was built by the Marquis Raúl Pateras Pescara de Castelluccio and is the only survivor to illustrate the work of this giant pioneer of rotary flight. The Pescara Model 2R was the first helicoopter capable of hovering for 1 minute at a height of 1 m. This exhibit is one of the oldest in the museum and one of the last machines built by Pescara, probably from elements taken from its previous helicopters. The museum do not attribute it as a 4S but it contains the Salmson 9 radial engine with a small cooling propeller, so possibly a pre-4S test frame.
