This Sabre was shipped to Japan in 1950 and flown to Korea as part of Far East Air Force (FEAF) to counter the MiG-15 threat.. It is painted in the markings of 336th FIS "Rocketeers" commanded by Lt. Col. Bruce H. Hinton, the first F-86 pilot to shoot down a MiG-15 on 17 Dec 1950. The unit along with the 334th and 335th FIS formed part of the 4th FIG which was the cream of the crop with WW2 aces. The group was to enjoy the lion's share of victories over MiG Alley, ending the brief air superiority of the MiG-15. This aircraft went to the museum in 2005.
