The Norwegian CAA's Navaid Flight's Dash 8 LN-ILS parked outside Fornebu's original 1930s terminal and towers in the setting sun during the last summer the airport operated. There are, in fact, no less than three visual control towers in this image. The one in operation at the time with the cabin, and the remains of the previous two above the tail of the Dash 8.

A busy Saturday outside Widerøre's maintenance hangar at Sandefjord-Torp. Three of the airline's Dash 8-300s are being prepared for the coming week. In addition, The Norwegian CAA's Navaid Flight's Dash 8-100 LN-ILS is deep in the hangar. This aircraft later joined Widerøe's fleet.

The McKinley Climatic Laboratory is both an active laboratory and a historic site located in Building 440 on Eglin Air Force Base, Florida. It was built late in the Second World War and first used as a refrigerated hangar for conducting cold weather tests on aircraft in May 1947. On the day this photo was taken, the inside temperature (as indicated by the large thermometer mounted on the hangar door) was -70F degrees when an unknown aircraft model was under test. In January 1985, MH-60G Pave Hawk helicopters of the 55th Aerospace Rescue and Recovery Squadron were based next-door to the Lab.

During a coast line flight, parallel to Bender Qassim International Airport in Puntland, Somalia, we passed the Puntland Maritime Police Force location which is situated at the old Bosaso airport, just west of the new airport. Strikingly, the whole (at that time) unmarked "air force" was visible, both SA316Bs (ZU-RFB and ZU-RFC), the three Ayres S2R(T) Turbo Thrushes and the single Beech 300 (possibly 3X-GBL). One of the Thrushes, a two-seat variant, missed some parts of the wings, while the Alouette 3s were in maintenance.

The main Aerospace Bristol hangar dates from the Great War and was part of the aircraft acceptance park at Filton. The Grade II listed building now houses the museum's main collection, with Concorde G-BOAF being displayed within a purpose-built building.

Opened in 1937 as Harewood aerodrome. Used as a RNZAF base in World War II. International air services started in 1950. Since the 1950s Harewood has been an important base for aircraft heading to US bases in Antarctica. The airport is officially Christchurch Airport in line with a move away from using local names. Mangere aerodrome was the home of Auckland Aero Club from 1928. Its club house is centre of the photo. Union Airways used Mangere from 1935 and its hangar is bottom of the photo. Airline services moved to RNZAF Whenuapai, which had sealed runways, in 1947. Whenuapai was unable to handle 707s and DC-8s, so a new Auckland airport was needed. The Mangere site was selected.
