Intended for the Netherlands East Indies air force but diverted to Australia after the Japanese invasion of what is now Indonesia. The 17 Buffaloes that the RAAF received were kept well away from the frontline and in the case of A51-13, operated by 25 Squadron for the defence of Perth. The surviving aircraft, including A51-13, were returned in June 1943 to the USAAF, which had officially taken control of all ex Dutch aircraft in Australia. The Buffaloes were scrapped at Brisbane.

On November 21, 2025, the museum brought their Iraqi MiG-25RB into the Cold War Gallery for a 6-month temporary display. This aircraft was captured at Al-Taqaddum AB in Iraq in 2003; Iraqi forces had buried this and other aircraft in the sand, in an effort to prevent their destruction by coalition airpower. Chosen as the best of the discovered MiG-25s, this aircraft was brought to the US in 2003, although her wings were not located before she was transported. She was transferred to the NMUSAF in 2006, and was in storage now. Scramble quotes as a MiG-25RBT; c/n as read off.
