On display at Musée de l'Air at Le Bourget. This is ex-USAAF 44-8889 that was built as a B-17G at Lockheed Vega, Burbank and assigned to the 8th AF but kept in storage. In 1949 it was assigned to 7499 Air Force Composite Squadron (AFCS) in Germany as an RB-17G for photo-ELINT, which flew peripheral recce missions to detect Soviet radar. The aircraft was sold in 1954 to Institut Géographique National (IGN), modified for aerial mapping and operated out of Creil. It was retired to the museum in 1976.

Resembling the Mirage III, this aircraft was a pre-production model that was used for flight tests from 12 Oct 61 till the first Mirage IVAs achieved operational status in Oct 64. The Mirage IVA was the only European military aircraft in 1964 that was capable of sustained flight at Mach 2. The Force de Frappe had nine dispersed Mirage IVA squadrons. A total of 62 aircraft were built, of which the bomber variant was retired in 1996 and the recce ones in 2005.
