This smartly presented Thunderjet has been present at Eindhoven since the 1950s. When first preserved it carried incorrect identity markings but these have been since corrected. Ex USAF 51-16727. .Photographer unknown.

A85-447 was in a children's playground at Bacchus March, Victoria from 1974 to 1982. It later became a restoration project and in 2003 the registration VH-VVH was allocated. At the time of upload it is not known if it has competed. Paul Daw photo

The lineup of aircraft participating in the 50th anniversary of the RAAF. The actual event set for the 28th March 1971, was a total washout due to the tail-end of a cyclone passing over RAAF Base Pearce. This was taken on Monday the 29th with all aircraft ready to depart back to the East Coast. Aircraft in the line-up 77 sqn Mirages with 3 aircraft from 76 sqn Mirages still in the aluminum finish. F-4Es not certain of the number, I think 6 aircraft. Out in the open a lone Canberra, and two C-130s at the back of the line-up.

Note the wing commander pennant on the tail fin also notable is the piping at the exhaust nozzle flaps for smoke generation. A3-19 was one of the "Delta" display team aircraft.

This aircraft was later converted to F-4N and then to QF-4N. VF-11 was regularly deployed to Mediterranean 1970-1972 on board USS Forrestal.
