Originally used for R-R Merlin tests. Converted in 1948 as the R-R Avon test bed, retaining inboard Merlins. Taken at R-R's test airfield at Hucknall in 1948. From R-R 60 years ago.

Photair existed from early 1948 until Spring 1949 and operated from Barton Airport, Manchester. They specialised in aerial photography with a side-line in short distance charters and pleasure flying. G-AHSR is seen on an air-to-air photo sortie over Manchester. Obtained from Photair 60 years ago.

Ex USAAF 44-9017 and American Airlines N90430. Served Aerovias Guest 1948 until 1951. Mexican Air Force P-47 Thunderbolts in the background. Obtained 60 years ago.

Delivered to AII on 16 March 1948. Seen on a photo sortie over smoggy Los Angeles. To Qantas VH-EAF in April 1951. Later G-ANTF with BOAC and N9816F with Transocean. From Lockheed 60 years ago.

This was the prototype Drover and first flew from Bankstown on 23 January 1948. It was delivered to the Department of Civil Aviation and operated until it crashed in the Coral Sea on 16 April 1952. It is on a photographic sortie over the Sydney Harbour Bridge. 20 Drovers were built. Obtained from De Havilland over 50 years ago.
