Delivered new in 1975 to Wien Air Alaska and here operated by NWT Air, complete with the gravel runway kit. The livery is that adopted by Air Canada Connector airlines. I was told that when Air Canada got involved with NWT they didn't want to be associated with the old Electra fleet, then in service, and forced NWT to switch to the B737. Routes that were flown non-stop with the Electra then had to make tech. stops for fuel. Enthusiasts in Sweden and the UK benefited though as five of the Electra fleet ended up there.

After flying with Wein Air Alaska (1975-85) as N4052W, AirCal and American Airlines (1985-88), NWT took delivery of this cargo 737 in November 1988 for it's expanding fleet. Air Canada sold the partner airline to First Air in the summer of 1998 and the two merged. On August 20, 2011 while conducting an ILS approach to remote Resolute, Nunavut, the 737 initiated a go-around. Unfortunately, it was too late for it's position and the aircraft flew into high ground and crashed.

This 737 would merge into the First Air fleet when NWT was bought in 1997. The aircraft suffered a hard landing at Yellowknife on May 22, 2001. Although able to taxi to the ramp with a burst nose wheel tire, it was deemed uneconomical to repair and written off.

This is former N4951W, a 737 delivered to Wien Air Alaska May 14, 1975. After Wien closed down in the summer of 1985, the aircraft went to Air Cal in November and was absorbed into American Airlines in the merger of July 1987. Northwest Territorial bought the 737 in February 1989, but was subsequently bought themselves by First Air in 1997 and merged. Damaged in a bounced hard landing at Yellowknife May 22, 2001, it was deemed uneconomical to repair.

Originally Eastern Airlines N5524, this Electra came to NWT in 1981. When NWT was bought by Air Canada in 1987, the L-188 got this new color scheme as an Air Canada Connector. The airplane was sold to Air Bridge Carriers in 1991 and NWT itself was sold to First Air and merged with them in 1997. It returned to Canada in 2003 with Air Spray and was eventually re-fitted as an air tanker.
