Since I was 10 years old I ventured into the TAA Hangar at Brisbane Eagle Farm Airport to look at the aircraft in this historic hangar. In 1987 I had the opportunity to photograph, crawl inside and drool over this wonderful aeroplane for what was to be the last time. I miss those days as I grow old.

VH-EDC was written off after ditching in the shallow waters of Botany Bay immediately off the end of Sydney's runway 16L on April 24, 1994. The 21 passengers, mainly students, and the four crew escaped. -EDC was recovered but was deemed uneconomical to repair due to saltwater immersion.

This DC-3 also served with East West Airlines as VH-EWA and VH-EWE. It was registered VH-PWN in Nov 1967. it also served with Bush Pilots and saw time in Papua &New Guinea. it later served with Air Queensland and Dick Langs Desert Air Safaris. It entered the New Zealand Register as ZK-AMS and later returned to Australia as VH-CWS. This
