This 1954-vintage Hunter served with 222(F) Sqdn at RAF Leuchars, followed by 229 OCU and 233 OCU before being allocated the maintenance serial 7532M in November 1957. Landing up on the gate at RAF Credenhill in Herefordshire, it arrived at Newark in January 1992 and after a number of variations to the paint scheme, is now splendidly presented in the correct 222 Sqdn marks

Combat veteran Spitfire on display at RAF Museum Hendon. This aircraft was built at Castle Bromwich and delivered to No. 611 Sqn. in Feb. 1942. It then went to No. 242 Sqn. in June and No. 222 Sqn. in Aug. 1942. In 1943 the Spitfire moved to No. 64 Sqn. and No. 118 Sqn. After Dec. 1943 its history becomes obscure. It wears the code of No. 222 Sqn. during the Dieppe raid. An Accumulator Trolley is attached to the Electrical and Radio Socket by the wing.

After recent renovation of the RAF Museum Spitfire BL614 has moved to the dark entrance hall. Putting it up high does offer some additional challenges to photographers.
