Ex 42-93271 and KG572. Bought by Derby Aviation in April 1961 and sold to Gregory Air Services in May 1965, leased by them for a short period in 1967 to Emerald Airways as EI-ARR. Flew in Africa from August 1968 as VQ-ZJB, 3D-AAH, A2-ZHR and ZS-KAT. Joined the Rhodesian AF in January 1978 as R3700 and became 3700 with the Zimbabwe AF in April 1980. Withdrawn and stored at Manyame by February 1998 it was one of five ex Zimbabwe AF C-47s transported by road to Wonderboom in July/August 2017. Registered to Preferred Air Parts as N568PT and cancelled from the US register in May 2023

ex. 43-48552, KJ874.( R.A.F. units: 108 OTU,271 Sqd,77 Sqd. ) Loaned to Smiths by the M.O.S. in 1953. It was used on a ministry contract to develop a version of SEP2 (mk 10) Autopilot. Broken up for spares in March 1964.

When i took this photo i did not know that this would be the last at this airfield,as within a few months it would close. The Toyota car factory is now built on the site.

Mosquito B.35 ex TK648 of 139 Squadron RAF. Awaiting overhaul and ferry modifications before delivery to Spartan in Ottawa for high altitude survey work around the world. Crashed in Manitoba 10.09.57. CF-HMR (ex TA661) is in the background.

Ex RAF TK623, built in early 1946. Roundel and fin flash crudely deleted for ferrying to Burnaston. After overhaul by Derby Aviation, it was delivered to Spartan Air Services in Ottawa for survey work. Crashed in Dominica in March 1960.

Ex Fleet Air Arm and AST Hamble. Bought by Derby Aviation for spares recovery. Crudely deleted roundels, but serial remains visible. Still extant in derelict condition in May 1958.

Newly overhauled by Derby Aviation for its trans-atlantic delivery flight. Ex RAF VR796. Currently (2010) being restored to airworthy condition in Canada.

Royal Navy Anson 1 wearing the code of the RNAS Bramcote Station Flight. Served the RN from October 1945 until struck off charge in January 1954 - one of the last Anson 1's in UK military service. Visiting the 1939-built Derby Aviation hangar at Burnaston.
