Opened in 1914 as a Royal Flying Corps station and came under RAF administration in 1918. In 1927, it temporarily came under the administration of the British Army, under the Army Air Co-Operation Command until 1939 when the station was handed back to the RAF. Closed in 1994, it is now part of the British Army's Marne Barracks, Catterick Garrison; the single runway now largely covered by accommodation units.

Two very different H-P types share their final days at the RAF Fire School. The Hastings had already been there many years having arrived in 7.69, but the Victor (K.2P XH647) joined in 11.74
